Adventures in South America: Cusco, Peru

I have been out and about around Cusco most of the last couple of days, but I have had a bit of a chance to see some of the old Inca capital city. On Monday night I had dinner in a restaurant with a view of the Plaza Mayor.

I am not clear what the occasion was, but there was a real celebratory atmosphere in the square . . .

. . . as well as just outside my hotel as I got ready for bed.

After the tour to Maras on Tuesday, I had a late lunch across the square, but again with a great view.

I ate a lovely plate of alpaca brochettes.

Yesterday in the evening I got a haircut at a great place near my hotel.

I am staying at a nice little hotel (Posada Villa Mayor) around the corner from the Plaza Mayor on the Plaza Regocijo. My room is nondescript, but the common areas of the hotel are quite lovely.
