Adventures in Asia: Banaue, Philippines

Banaue is a small town in the northwestern part of Ifugao province, and more or less right in the centre of northern Luzon island.

I am staying at the 7th Heaven guesthouse, and I have a nice view over the town and rice terraces from my bedroom window.

Whereas at Batad the rice terraces are built with stone, around Banaue they are made from dirt, which makes them look quite different; compare these pictures from Banaue:

to Batad:

There is a plaque in Banaue that provides some more commentary on the Ifugao rice terraces:

On the way back from Batad, my tricycle driver asked if I would mind stopping at the school, because he had to see his kids.  Of course I said did not mind, so I got to see a little bit of the elementary school.

I ate lunch at a restaurant with a great balcony overlooking the town . . .

. . . and returned again to watch the sunset . . .

. . . and drink a beer.
